For many at Virgil Public School, House Leagues played a significant role in student life. These leagues were named after historical Viking figures: Guthrum, Leif Eriksen, Rollo, Olaf, Canute, and Erik the Red. Initiated by Mr. Dodge, every student was assigned to a team upon entering Virgil, and family members were consistently placed on the same team.
Each team had a designated teacher as its leader and participated in various events throughout the school year, accumulating points. In addition to winning seasons in activities like dodgeball and cosom hockey, at the end of the year, one team was crowned the House League Champion. 🏆
